Dr. Cynthia A. Tyson researches subjects like “teaching for social justice,” “early childhood social studies,” and “multicultural children’s literature.” She is a professor in the Department of Teaching and Learning at The Ohio State University, where she also examines race/racism in qualitative research. She consults internationally with school districts on her research topics. Tyson’s research papers appear at national meetings and conferences such as the American Education Research Association, American Association for Colleges of Teacher Education, and the National Council for the Social Studies. Her articles publish in Educational Researcher, Theory and Research in Social Education, the International Journal of Qualitative Research in Education, the Journal of Literacy Research, and the Ohio Journal of English Language Arts, where she is the diversity features columnist.
