A mechanical engineer and national leader in higher education engineering teaching, research and service, Dr. Jayathi Y. Murthy became the 16th president of Oregon State University (OSU) on Sept. 9, 2022. Her research interests include macroelectronics, computational fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and phase-change materials. In 2020, she was elected a member of the National Academy of Engineering. Murthy has authored more than 330 technical publications and serves on the editorial boards of Numerical Heat Transfer and the International Journal of Thermal Sciences. She is known for advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion. For Murthy, building OSU’s service impact as Oregon’s statewide university is a top priority.
