Baltodano has spent more than 20 years at UC Berkeley in administrative and teaching capacities. In addition to her role at the multidisciplinary Center for Studies in Higher Education, she is the founding executive director of the Executive Leadership Academy, an initiative geared towards supporting individuals of all backgrounds interested in university leadership positions. Baltodano is known for her dedication to women’s issues and her service to the community. She was previously president of Marian University until 2009 and oversaw the institution’s transition from college to university status. Her career in higher education has also placed her in administrative roles at Alliant International University and John F. Kennedy University, and on the Higher Education Resource Services Board of Directors, the University of Wisconsin System President’s Council on Diversity, the Alta Bates Summit Foundation Board and the Board of Directors of the American Council on Education Women’s Network Executive Council. As a High Performance Executive Coach, Baltodano frequently presents on issues related to transitional leadership, accreditation, enrollment management, fundraising, board relations, community engagement and entrepreneurial initiatives.
